Marni discovers that her family loves Joanna, and when she meets her, she wants Joanna to apologize for the humiliations she was subjected to in high school. Only Joanna pretends that she has not recognized Marni and promises a fresh commencement to them. Meanwhile, Joanna's aunt Ramona (Sigourney Weaver) arrives for the nuptials and Marni'southward mother Gail Byer (Jamie Lee Curtis) recognizes her as her high-school all-time friend that has become her enemy. The resentful Marni seeks revenge and decides to betrayal the past of Joanna to protect her brother and force him to telephone call off his wedding ceremony while Gail begins a personal dispute with Ramona.

  • The film opens in 2002 with Marni (Kristen Bong), an acne-riddled loftier school senior at Ridgefield High Schoolhouse, with glasses and braces, making a video about how much she hates high school, and reveals how she is tormented and bullied by other girls, specifically Joanna (Odette Annable), who made Marni's high-school life miserable. She adds that her protective older blood brother, Will, (James Wolk), was very pop as a handsome basketball thespian. Still, at a very of import basketball game game, Joanna pushes the mascot, Marni, who runs into Will, resulting in a loss of the game.

    Years later, in 2010, however, Marni is a successful public-relations executive, recently promoted to a chore in New York. When Marni flies home to her older blood brother'south wedding, she discovers Volition is about to marry Joanna, the very aforementioned cheerleader who bullied and tormented her throughout high school. Marni forgives her and promises to get them back together. The next day, Marni pretends to be injured in order to attract Will's attention, and apologizes to him for her actions, proverb she was only trying to protect him from Joanna.

    Joanna and Will reconcile in Marni'due south old tree house, only it collapses and injures both of them. They are both forced to stay at a infirmary, which delays the wedding. However, Marni puts together a makeshift hymeneals at the hospital, with the bride and groom bandaged, but properly dressed and able to walk downward the aisle. Marni appears to start a relationship with Charlie, her blood brother's adept friend who was always kind to her.

    However, in a terminal twist-ending joke, Joanna introduces Marni's grandmother Bunny to her visiting grandmother Helen (Cloris Leachman). It is revealed in some other montage of flashbacks that Helen and Bunny were enemies in high school when Helen stole a male child from her. However, Bunny gets her revenge when she cuts in on Helen's dance and takes her dance partner. Helen decides to seek revenge on Bunny...restarting another old feud.
